SALES ARCHIVE METHOD · UPDATED 25.08.2026

How the sales archive is built.

The archive is a bounded record of publicly discoverable adverts and explicit results. It is not a complete market census, a valuation service or a claim that an asking price became a transaction.

What enters the archive

One physical car can appear in several adverts or auctions. The archive therefore separates a resolved vehicle from each offering event. An exact chassis or VIN can support a definite identity match in the private research record; colour, specification or photographs alone remain review evidence and do not silently merge cars.

Search results and marketplace indexes are retained as discovery leads until an exact primary advert or result is checked. They do not increase the resolved-car, offering-event or live-observation totals.

Sales includes complete cars, kits, rolling chassis and unfinished projects in the same list. Incomplete builds are labelled and included in every refresh. Their source prices remain in the whole-archive record, but are excluded from complete-road-car valuation cohorts in the market report. Swap values are not treated as asking prices.

A dead link is not a sale

A source must explicitly record an outcome before UltimaInfo labels an event sold, not sold or bid to. Removed, expired, withdrawn and no-longer-available pages never establish a transaction. “Last observed live” records only the latest checked date and carries no promise that the advert remains active today.

Every price keeps its meaning

Asking price, reserve, estimate, current bid, bid-to figure, hammer or winning bid, buyer premium and premium-inclusive total are different observations. They are not combined into one median or described as market value. Each public figure retains its source currency and fee-basis label.

The original source amount remains primary. An eligible non-GBP price may also show a clearly marked approximate GBP equivalent, based on a reviewed Bank of England daily snapshot for the exact date that price was observed, or the exact advert/result event date when no price-observation date was retained. A weekend or holiday uses the latest earlier published business day, no more than seven days before that source date. Converted figures never feed a chart, ranking, cohort or summary, and stay unavailable where no eligible date or rate exists. Repeated source captures of the same price remain in the downloadable evidence but display only once.

Country is attributed, not inferred

The public dashboard uses only a country explicitly stated by the advert or result source. It does not geocode a town, infer a country from currency or assume a buyer, delivery destination, registration country or present vehicle location. Unknown remains visible rather than being guessed.

Links and facts, not copied adverts

The public release excludes raw registrations and VINs, precise seller locations, contact details, full advert prose, screenshots and third-party galleries. Ordinary source links and narrowly authored factual metadata are published where the reviewed source policy allows. No advert photograph is used without a separate recorded licence or owner/photographer permission.

Uncertainty stays visible

Conflicting model, date, mileage or result claims remain attached to their sources until the evidence resolves them. Corrections, identity disputes and takedown requests retain an audit record while denied public material is removed from the next build.
